Step Into The Forge

Ever wanted to have a go at blacksmithing?

Join me in the workshop for a hands-on introduction to the craft and spend a few hours working with hot steel, hammers and anvil.

No previous experience is required. I'll guide you through the process from heating the steel in the forge to shaping, bending and finishing your own pieces.

You'll get stuck in from the start — this isn't a demonstration where you simply stand and watch.

The experience is designed to give you a genuine introduction to traditional blacksmithing in a working forge.

During the session, you'll learn the basics of working hot steel and have the opportunity to make your own pieces to take home.

you'll work on projects such as:

A forged fire poker
Learn the fundamentals of drawing out, bending and shaping steel to create a practical piece for your home.

A hand-forged bottle opener
A smaller project that introduces you to the basics of forging and gives you something useful to take home.

The emphasis is on learning by doing, with plenty of time to have a go yourself.

Forge a tool you can keep for life

Take your blacksmithing experience a step further and make your own hammer from a piece of steel.

This hands-on class takes you through the process of forging, shaping and finishing a hammer head before fitting it with a wooden handle.

You'll be working with hot steel throughout the day and learning techniques that have been used by blacksmiths for generations.

Making a hammer is a fantastic way to experience the full process of blacksmithing.

You'll start with a suitable piece of steel and gradually transform it into a working tool using the forge, anvil and hammer.

And at the end of it, you'll leave with a fully functional hammer that you've made yourself.
