Steedman Blacksmith is a small, independent metalworking business based in the Scottish Borders, specialising in bespoke blacksmithing, steel fabrication, repairs and installation.
What started with a passion for working with metal has grown into a fully equipped workshop producing everything from hand-forged pieces and bespoke gates to structural fabrication and practical repairs.
Whether it's a one-off piece for your home or a larger fabrication project, the same principle applies: make it properly, make it last.
From The Forge To The Workshop
Hi! I'm Douglas, the blacksmith behind Steedman Blacksmith.
I have always enjoyed making things and figuring out how they work. Blacksmithing gave me the opportunity to take that interest and turn it into a trade where every project presents a different challenge.
The workshop combines traditional blacksmithing techniques with modern fabrication and welding equipment. That means I can work across a wide range of projects — from shaping hot steel at the anvil to fabricating larger structures and components in the workshop.
I enjoy the variety. One day might involve forging decorative components for a gate, while the next could mean repairing agricultural equipment or fabricating a structural steel frame.
